playing with textures!
playing with textures!
first page from my 24 hr comic! this is one of the only pages that had an inkwash to go with it (I gave up on that at about 8am because I realised it would probably take another day)
I will post a little teaser shortly (we’re having an exhibition in march and I want to save the whole thing ‘til then!)
YES i have completed the 24 hour comics challenge (although I failed and just carried on until i finished, which took me up to 28 hours). I will share my magical journey with you soon.
i am tired and in pain and
what is happening
sweet papayajesus I am one tired little fella
shit’s getting real in comics land! Chloe is sitting with us doing some seriously cool paper crafting. check out her things, she is lovely!
So I’m organising a 24 hour comics event for my uni’s Illustration course (University of the West of England, highly recommend it) and so here’s my little group so far. I’ll link their tumblrs later, but we have Karoline Achilles, Bethan Mure and Chris Neal (Acid Lake) so if you google them, you should find then…
guys! today I’m doing 24 hour comics day with the wonderful Karoline Achilles, Chris (Mr. Acid Lake) and Graham Johnson. These are our adventures so far! expect lotsa liveblogging throughout the day
We’re currently harassing Andy to come and join us too! yessss :D
I never use my camera really and there’s so much good stuff to see! but my camera’s memory card is a barren landscape populated by forgotten images that never got deleted or ever went anywhere. so I’m trying to learn things and do things differently, to work out what makes an image good or bad and how you can change things
maybe it’ll help me drawing! who knows.
serious late night scribbling!
I learned something really good today! “refining a work does mean highly rendering a piece and adding lots of shading and making it neat. it’s about really looking at a work and thinking, ‘what’s good about this, what’s weak about this, what changes can I make to move this on?’” or something to that effect!
lots of love to you, brave internet souls.
I’m just going to chill and hold off on the projects, and spend the next 3-4 weeks focusing on playing with composition and colour and texture. It should be good.
But for today, I’m going to tidy my room and relax.
Not-Quite-Hourly comics from the first weekend in February! so much happened: such a mix of giddiness and sadness and sickness all in one go. Graham Johnson in my class (who does some seriously good comics, so check him out) has been proposing that all the illustrators to do 24h comics (whether this weekend or the next).
looking forward to doing some more challenging things!
(the song in the last panel is what I feel inside by nizlopi)
"Please let’s go home." "Sure thing bud."
I had this thought that it would be great if people had flashcards to talk to each other in crowded pubs and clubs across swathes of people.
guys! sorry for my lack of posting, but my friend and classmate Dan has done these excellent drawings of bears (and he sells them as card, so hit him up if you want one)
Valjean! You…. Are… UUUNNNNACCEPTABLEEEEEE!!!!!
Guys, can we just take a minute to appreciate this beautiful Adventure Time/Les Miserables crossover fan art my little sister drew? stupendous.
