oh I will always love you
said the cat unto the moon,
I’ll love you ‘til the world’s reduced
to just one afternoon.
and even after I have been
dispatched by fate of time,
my particles will float up to
the empty, open sky
and form themselves to patterns
invisible to them or us,
but underneath the microscope
the words read clearly thus:
oh I will always love you
said the cat unto the moon,
I love you more than broccoli,
or beautiful teaspoons.
I love you for your soft cool glow
and all those other things
and I sit and watch you turn and turn
from Saturn’s crumbling rings.
